Some Facts
For the Emmy© Award-Winning interactive program EMMA APPROVED, Sally Chou contributed the music, one of the "five media" used for its innovation, serving as composer, resident songwriter, and music director. She was also the composer and music supervisor of Daytime Emmy© Award nominee VANITY, the first scripted series produced by StyleHaul, Youtube's largest video network for fashion and beauty.
She received her M.A. in Music Composition with specialization in Visual Media from UCLA and her B.S. in Computer Science from MIT where she also studied music and theater. Sally is classically trained in composition, conducting, voice, violin, guitar, piano, and alto saxophone. Her performance history includes leading roles in regional musical theater, rock bands, as a singer-songwriter, and choral groups. In music production, she has worked as an audio engineer, both in recording and live sound.
While at UCLA, Sally was the instructor of the UCLA graduate course "Advanced Electronic Music Composition," and the recipient of the Henry Mancini Scholarship for the Composition of Music for Motion Pictures & Television.
For five years, Sally served as the founding President of the Academy of Scoring Arts, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance the creative and technical process of scoring visual media, by bringing together composers, filmmakers, audio engineers and musicians to share knowledge through the production of educational programs and community events.
She sang with Vox Femina Los Angeles for five seasons and was a singer and arranger for its vocal quartet, The Voxettes.
